dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, United Stateswow -- this is actually quite foreboding! an excellent shot -- a perfect capture! the lighting, detail and composition are simply superb. bravo! 28 Jul 2008 5:40am @dj.tigersprout: thanks again dj Matt Sutton from Sydney, AustraliaAnother wonderful image Grant. An icon. Lurking yet familiar. 28 Jul 2008 7:15am @Matt Sutton: thanks matt - great description Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThe framing, light and subject is perfect. 28 Jul 2008 9:56am @Observing: thanks... i agree about the subject, although i got a few odd stares when taking this one. i love these old trucks. daina from United StatesSome photos are effective and no amount of analysis will really explain why - I think this is one. Matt used the word lurking and that is the closest I can come to expressing the mood as well. Terrific image. 28 Jul 2008 12:57pm @daina: thanks daina. i can't hardly ever explain what i like about a photo, so i'm glad to have someone else (almost) in the same boat :) Marcie from United StatesGreat old truck. Really nice image. In its simplicity..it somehow says 1000 words. 28 Jul 2008 5:18pm @Marcie: :), thanks marcie Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesRolleiflex is awesome rendering such depth. A very nice shot. Feels like the truck has been here amongst the vegetation (and a farm perhaps) forever. This is perhaps a truck from the owner's father's generation, and it is still here in the 21st century. 28 Jul 2008 7:46pm @Howard F.: what a great description! i'm reluctant to tell the real story. this was parked in the grass lot at a flea market. the camera does lie! ordinaryimages from KY Bluegrass, United Stateslooks a case of f-100 voyeurism. now that rolliflex, that's a real camera. i've use the cp 990 as somewhat a digital equivalent, which of course it's not. best...jf 29 Jul 2008 12:32am @ordinaryimages: i had to google the cp 990. i don't think i'm capable of learning digital. i bought my girlfriend a digital elph. it seems interesting, but very complicated. she thinks i should know how to use it! i love the rollei. it was a happy accident, and a great deal, when i got it about a year ago. ~Kylie~ from Richmond, AustraliaI see we both have a thing for old cars... the Ford looks great here in the afternoon sunlight... very cheekily hiding behind the bushes, a great capture! 29 Jul 2008 3:49am @~Kylie~: thanks, yes. i don't know a thing about them, other than i like photographing them. ordinaryimages from KY Bluegrass, United States"interesting, but very complicated" the elfp or the girlfriend? 29 Jul 2008 4:33am @ordinaryimages: that's the best one i've heard in a long time! of course the answer is both - with patience, there's a chance i might figure out the elph though. @bluechameleon: thank you! lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaYou could make a card from this image, it'd be a very popular one for the blokes..very good technically too grant, very slick. 29 Jul 2008 10:23pm @lisa v: thanks lisa. maybe that could be my next career - grant's cards for blokes... Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesGreat tonal separation here and nostalgic evocation. 31 Jul 2008 9:29pm @Twelvebit: this is a favorite place for photos for me. thanks again. Benoit Darrieux from Clermont Ferrand, FranceVery nice B & W pictures of America on your pages... I like your style. I have choosen this one for the light, the contrast, and for the vehicle which is a good a representation of your country (I know it's stupid, I watch to many series on my tv!). 31 Aug 2008 6:10pm @Benoit Darrieux: thanks benoit. (and it's not stupid - this truck, at least in areas like this, is an important part of life.) |
