I like this a lot. It has a nice, old feel to it. The slight grain really works and almost takes you back to yesteryear a bit.

An abandoned pickup and a bird landing- a nice air and ground combo. Are there a lot of grass land in Kansas? I can imagine (in color) must be very soothing to look at.

@Howard F.: my girlfriend's dad is paid by the state to allow some of his land to revert to native prairie grass - not a bad deal. this is about what it looks like in color in the summer :)

@Observing: you'd be surprised - i don't know if you can tell from the photo, but this truck bed has been sawed off from the cab, and is now used as a trailer. the raven might be squawking in frustration at kansas farm thriftiness...

wow -- i feel some sort of menace here -- as if they are going to find a body and it will soon be an investigation site... a captivating shot -- and on top of that an intriguing composition... i do get a tremor of chills thinking about those possibilities... looks quite isolated... marvelous work!

This is intriguing on its own, but without that bird I don't think it would be nearly as powerful. It's strange how such small and incidental details can in fact "make" a photo. I'm glad you saw this and shared it with us.

I really like the open space that surrounds the truck. It's as if it crawled off in the middle of the night to die there, but was discovered the next day.
