ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesalways wondered how they got in, now i know. best...jerry 22 Aug 2008 6:06am @ordinaryimages: :) just preparing you for a possibly endless string of bartels & shores images - already have one posted (my first pic here) Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomJust like a film set in a studio. Such a fancy surround and just a plain door. 22 Aug 2008 6:36am @Observing: it's an odd combination, isn't it? this whole area, on a sunday at least, has the feeling of a film set to me. Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australialove this image !! the contrast, the lightpole shadow ! excellent Grant 22 Aug 2008 6:55am @Matt Sutton: thanks matt Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomAmazing mix of shadow and light detail, great image. 22 Aug 2008 7:25am @Richard_Irwin: thanks richard yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, GreeceThe shadow that allows the building at the sun is really fantastic 22 Aug 2008 3:47pm @yiannis krikis: thanks yiannis. there's something about the light in this part of town that's really unique. Marcie from United StatesLove the shadows and light. The entry glows. Excellent! 22 Aug 2008 4:25pm @Marcie: thanks marcie! @Sun: thanks sun! Jacob from Cedar Hills, United StatesGreat photos here, did you develop all of these yourself? Black and white always seems to give things a different perspective. 22 Aug 2008 6:39pm @Jacob: thanks jacob. i develop my own film, and then scan the negatives. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Stateshmm --we've seen another shot of this building before i believe? maybe one of your first, if my memory serves... ;) of course the deep shadow work is my favorite part of this shot -- just heavy and moody against the bright light... and that singular telephone pole shadow is just fascinating! fab-o! 22 Aug 2008 9:25pm @dj.tigersprout: amazing memory - yep, my first pic here. i just keep going back.. thanks dj. Monkey in the Jungle from Bridgnorth, United KingdomAnother great. I love the way the shadow is creaping across the image. I haven't got a negative scanner, I could get a 35mm scanner fairly cheap, but not a 120 format scanner. 22 Aug 2008 9:34pm @Monkey in the Jungle: thanks. i know what you mean about the scanner. i shoot so much film that i finally rationalized it as a long term cost savings. i think it really has been, but that doesn't create the cash up front. Monkey in the Jungle from Bridgnorth, United Kingdomp.s. where did you get your Druh Synchro from? 22 Aug 2008 9:35pm @Monkey in the Jungle: ebay purchase from a u.s. seller - i really like it ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United States":) just preparing you for a possibly endless string of bartels & shores images - already have one posted (my first pic here)" bring'em on bad dog : ] 22 Aug 2008 10:10pm @ordinaryimages: fine, you called my bluff - i'm tapped out... but you never know when b&s will call my name again. @10cré: thank you. i like your photos, but couldn't read well enough to leave a comment. GJC from Kyoto, JapanThis one is magical. The way you've set the building up higher in the frame is really good, and it emphasizes even more the fantastic play of light and shadow. 23 Aug 2008 2:51am @GJC: thanks gjc. i wanted those two blocks of light on the road. i appreciate the comment. Carraol from Mexico City, MexicoYour use of light are spectacular, dramatic and magic, this one is outstanding! Greetings from MC. 24 Aug 2008 10:18pm @Carraol: thank you carraol! Raffi from Maryland, United StatesExcellent shadows and composition. I like this one! 25 Aug 2008 2:35am @Raffi: thanks raffi Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesYour city seems charming. Or is that you doing your magic? :-) 25 Aug 2008 4:04am @Teresa: that's impossible to answer. i'll just say thanks. :) Lucca from Cologne, GermanyStunning composition! I especially love the light with the two blocks in front, and the tones are great. 26 Aug 2008 6:51am @Lucca: those blocks of light are what stopped me as i drove through on a deserted sunday. thanks lucca. @Twelvebit: thanks |
