Zygene from morlaix, FranceUne belle photo, on se croirait dans le futur avec cette photo. 29 Sep 2008 5:36am Nill@ from County Östergötland, SwedenThe rounded shadow on the brickwall makes this photo so arbsorbing. Just love your photos! 29 Sep 2008 6:05am @Nill@: thanks nilla :-) dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesbeautiful forms and shapes here Grant -- and why do i think of the cartoon series of the 'Jetsons' when i look at this? ;) beautiful shot -- quite mysterious! 29 Sep 2008 7:02am @dj.tigersprout: someone else mentioned that same thing dj. i guess that spire (which is from the pre-church days) has a bit of a jetsons feel! Reiner from Brensbach, GermanyI like the combination of lights and shadows as well the curves and corners. Wonderful photo as usual. 29 Sep 2008 7:45am lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaI'm sorry, it's a what? a church/bank? although I would definitely call some churches banks I'm not certain that's what you're implying. Also, what is with the ufo on the roof? weirdest looking satellite dish I ever saw. Very strange building, the angle of that roof, so pitched. 29 Sep 2008 10:38am @lisa v: lisa, i'm not making some sort of social comment. this building was originally a bank. it now, as best i can tell, functions as both. (a real time saver if you think about it.) Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiawonderful photo Grant. the Diana is a great camera. Well done here. Crazy angles, light, shadow and subject. 29 Sep 2008 11:51am @Matt Sutton: i do like the diana. it's even a bit less predictable than the holga though, in my experience. Polydactyle from Montréal, CanadaVery special architecture and forms are so 60's. Great! 29 Sep 2008 11:59am daina from New York, United StatesA very odd structure - and reminiscent a bit of 1950ties sci-fi movies. Great take on it. The strong lights and darks bring out its odd shape and create an unreal atmosphere - terrific!! 29 Sep 2008 2:07pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesThis one has a strange eeriness about it. I kept on imagine that I am looking for a piece of clue to a puzzle or a mystery. A church and bank combo? Where is the Starbucks :) I love it! 29 Sep 2008 7:01pm @Howard F.: there was a gas/convenience store next door, but it's closed. thanks howard. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomWith all this financial turmoil, let's Pray that our money is safe. I like this one Grant, looks like a design that went wrong. Super graytone. 29 Sep 2008 10:08pm @Observing: thanks mike. you just don't see enough buildings like this! ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesgeorge jetson was the architect! 29 Sep 2008 11:53pm @ordinaryimages: :-) bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaA church and a bank combined? How totally wild...and yes, I think of George Jetson immediately! 30 Sep 2008 4:22am Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesLove the angles and shapes! I like how there seems to be 3 different contrasting parts. The bottom, the roof and the top of the roof. 3 Oct 2008 2:33am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesLooks like someone's vision of the future from back in the 60's. Another effective use of DOF. 5 Oct 2008 11:36pm |
