RHYS from LONDON, United KingdomThis is an exemplar piece on composition and tone and is a superb demonstration of the graphic potential in both. 10 Oct 2008 5:37am Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThey are gathering, and I can hear the squawks in Hitchcocks film. The contrast of the side of the building is very well controlled. Another neat shot Grant. 10 Oct 2008 7:05am @Observing: thanks mike Nill@ from County Östergötland, SwedenI wonder why they´re sitting with their backs facing me? What is so interesting at the other side.... 10 Oct 2008 8:35am @Nill@: thanks nilla. i thought they were snubbing me. it makes me feel better to think maybe they were looking at something in that direction. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThe aftermath of a Hitchcock film perhaps? I love the starkness of this shot, the street sign that has obviously been backed into the way it's leaning like that...all adds to the character and oddity of this scene. 10 Oct 2008 12:44pm Marcie from United StatesLove the obvious simplicity of the image. Excellent b&w processing. It really gives the image an eerie feel. 10 Oct 2008 1:25pm don from spokane, United StatesFor me this is a very strong, graphic statement. I really like the major "blocks" in the shot. The sign and its shadow break the pattern nicely as do the birds. Nice one. If you have this one posted in vfxy I'd like to add it to my collection. 10 Oct 2008 1:26pm @don: thanks don. i appreciate it. i didn't know there was a choice - as far as i cant tell, every shot i put up here automatically goes onto vfxy. Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesIt has an appealing detached quality to it. Very much like some works of art. 10 Oct 2008 1:39pm daina from New York, United StatesIt has a strangeness about it - the kind of spookiness one feels when the ordinary everyday stuff suddenly turns into something unexpected, and has a sense of foreboding about it. It makes one uncomfortable without being able to explain why. Love it... 10 Oct 2008 1:52pm @daina: thanks very much daina Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesThe sign and shadow give a minimalist feel to this study. Beautifully seen. 10 Oct 2008 3:55pm Lucca from Cologne, GermanyI always love the grafical aspects in your images. Nice "fallen" sign. Did you use a filter for the sky, gbe? 10 Oct 2008 4:06pm @Lucca: thanks lucca. no filter, just a contrast tweek in ps. ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesquietly arrangement of line and shape. best...jerry 10 Oct 2008 4:09pm @Zygène: thanks zygene - a rare instance for me of cropping after taking the photo. TILALA from Bordeaux, FranceL'ombre du panneau, le noir des oiseaux et la composition... une image vraiment interressante.... 10 Oct 2008 6:21pm @TILALA: thanks tilala Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesLines, pigeons, and a tilted stop sign. Simple and interesting shot. 10 Oct 2008 6:24pm lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaI like the birds and the building but what really makes the shot appealing to me is the double circle of the sign..just love how how you got that shadow nicely lined up there, reminds me of lollipops. 11 Oct 2008 12:48am @Alejandro Caballero: thanks very much alex sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesThe sequel to "The Birds"....I like the bent stop sign and its shadow. 11 Oct 2008 5:13am GJC from Kyoto, JapanThe birds are indeed terrific, but I wouldn't overlook that sign and the shadow it casts, which really adds a lovely dimension. 11 Oct 2008 10:26am yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery nice image - I like the lines the traffic sign ... all the image 12 Oct 2008 8:23am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesIt needed the sign, and even the wires I think (which I usually studiously attempt to keep out of most shots), to be effective. 12 Oct 2008 4:12pm |
