GJC from Kyoto, JapanI find it interesting that in almost every one of your photos, there is always some geometric shade pattern coming into the frame from a place outside the frame. It really adds to the composition. Is this a conscious effort on your part? 20 Oct 2008 10:52am @GJC: um, if you like it, it was the result of careful planning... :-) bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI love this contrast. 20 Oct 2008 1:03pm @bluechameleon: thanks bc daina from New York, United StatesI had the same thought as GJC the moment I looked at this image. But I am sure it is a conscious effort - yes, I am one of those obnoxious persons that make assumptions and am convinced its true until someone tells me otherwise :} So Grant am I right? Am sure you are aware of every shadow in the image and its relationship to the whole. Wonderful composition by the way. 20 Oct 2008 1:25pm @daina: thanks daina. i'm sticking with my comment to gjc - everything you like was the result of careful planning. anything else was an accident and beyond my control :-) don from spokane, United StatesThe geometric quality works very well. I think they are a conscious observation which works very well for you. I always like your B&W work. 20 Oct 2008 2:42pm @don: thanks don ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesyou know it's old because it's a single [analog] wide : ] that little corner worked out for you. 20 Oct 2008 3:43pm Mindy from United StatesAt least there's no foreclosure sign. Regarding the shadow that has been observed, maybe it's the time of day that you always choose to shoot...? 21 Oct 2008 12:43am @Observing: mike, you're right - can't take a photo of something that isn't there. late afternoon is the time for me.
