daina from New York, United StatesAmazing, amazing another generic store front - did not think it was possible. Love your wonderful series of them... 22 Oct 2008 2:09pm don from spokane, United StatesAnother fine composition of an old building. I like the dynamic balance you achieved with your placement of the building relative to the curb etc. Well done. 22 Oct 2008 3:02pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesHow you composed the shot- just having 'budget' over the sign- makes me laugh. This place looks indeed very budgety. Good shot Grant. 22 Oct 2008 5:16pm @Howard F.: yea howard, that's the word. it's a budgety place in a budgety part of town. i like that. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesGreat old find. I like how the grass is growing in the cracks of asphalt showing the abandonment. 22 Oct 2008 5:26pm @sherri: thanks sherri. paolo from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Italynice kind of old fashion shop! 22 Oct 2008 5:38pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThis whole place seems cheap..... ;) Very good shot Grant, not much business by the looks..! 22 Oct 2008 7:12pm @Observing: mike, it's economical... bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI alwaysl ike your framing, by not giving us the 'whole' picture, but making the picture whole. 22 Oct 2008 8:14pm @bluechameleon: thanks bc. i appreciate that. Marcie from United StatesNice old-time processing. Gives the image a sense of timelessness. Love how you've framed this to leave us guessing as to what the other half of 'budget' is. 22 Oct 2008 8:26pm dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesi agree w/ BC -- your sensibilities for what you include and what you leave out are top notch! a faaabulous shot -- those wires in the corner -- amazing!!! 22 Oct 2008 10:17pm lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaThere is a satellite suburb near us that these photos remind me of. It's got a lot of businesses but there is an unkempt, abandoned look to them. This one here would fit right in, it could have been taken there. I really like the curve off to the left combined with the rectangle of building on the right. 22 Oct 2008 10:20pm JJ from Jersey City, United Stateslike bluechameleon said, really like how you have composed this showing only halve of the building, and yet the shot is still full of interest, great work 22 Oct 2008 10:49pm @JJ: thanks jj ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesI suppose their prices were too low. best...jerry 23 Oct 2008 2:03am Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesNicely seen. Very well composed with spot on values. 23 Oct 2008 4:09am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI doubt I'd even have considered the possiblity of making a photo out of this scene. Just shows I'm still not paying enough attention. 23 Oct 2008 4:25pm @Twelvebit: i really appreciate the comment (although i think it's too self-critical). this is my favorite kind of photo to take. but sometimes i wonder if i've gone a little crazy spending so much time on these forgotten places. |
