lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaIs Kansas full of just the cutest little buildings or what? (said like a true girl) that chimney at the back looks like it might topple off it's so close to the edge. 23 Oct 2008 5:19am @lisa v: thanks lisa. i had to laugh at your comment. the funny thing for me is that this house is really in a bad part of town. as isolated as it looks, it's just a just down the road from a few rough bars, liquor stores, and shady used car lots. ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesall dished out. best...jerry 23 Oct 2008 5:56am @ordinaryimages: the one universal feature! dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesmarvelous use of space (as per usual)!! i can't love those electric and telephone wires enough! fabo! 23 Oct 2008 6:09am Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiasuperlatives...... the house looks like a pig's face to me...... well done Grant ! 23 Oct 2008 7:34am @Matt Sutton: i'lll never see it the same way again! Reiner from Brensbach, GermanyIt looks as if the cottage is the remaining one of several buildings which stood there once. It looks somehow secluded and left. Well spotted. 23 Oct 2008 10:04am daina from New York, United StatesIt well could be Dorothy’s Kansas where houses get picked up by tornados and are deposited arbitrarily in odd deserted places. If this one were not of stone one would t think it was left there carelessly without situating it. There is no concern for any beauty or traffic with the outside world – just someone in there watching TV and hang everything else. Interesting place and interesting image… 23 Oct 2008 12:39pm @daina: thanks daina. your thoughts are similar to my own. don from spokane, United StatesI like the composition you created with this old building. This home looks unusually small for its brick construction. 23 Oct 2008 3:32pm @don: there are a few things that i find puzzling about this little house. Nill@ from County Östergötland, SwedenThis house reminds me about old disused station buildings here in Sweden. 23 Oct 2008 3:49pm @Nill@: i do love wires nilla. in new housing and shopping developments here they put them underground (probably lots of places). i understand that they can be eyesores. i think i (and probably lots of people) tend to erase them when looking around casually. i'm often surprised by how they really look. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesNice composition, especially well placed are the wires. 23 Oct 2008 4:23pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesThis structure looks like it would be worth renovating. I like the style of the structure. I'm guessing from the satellite dish it's occupied. 23 Oct 2008 4:48pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesThis is such an awesome shot. A lone house in the middle of nowhere but with such a nice facade. The yard needs a lot of work, if they stop watching that satelite TV. 23 Oct 2008 5:01pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomVery different to your usual urban shots, I like it. There's lots of cables criss crossing everywhere. Great shot..! 23 Oct 2008 7:58pm @Observing: thanks mike Lucca from Cologne, GermanyI think I'll never get tired to see the beauty of your lonely-houses-photos. 23 Oct 2008 8:59pm @Lucca: thank you lucca. i hope you mean it, because i'm just getting started :-) JJ from Jersey City, United Stateslove seeing what wonderful shots you will post such a quaint old house the satellite dish looks out of place, interesting to read its in the bad part of town 23 Oct 2008 11:44pm @JJ: thanks jj. there are certainly worse places. however a 360 degree view from this vantage point would be surprising, i think. Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesI was a little fixated on the telephone wires until I read Matt's comment. Now, all I see is snout. :-) 24 Oct 2008 3:55am @Teresa: i know what you mean! |
