Tilala from FranceIt's incredible ! Nobody, no cars, no life ! But where do you live? So mysterious ! 27 Oct 2008 7:05am @Tilala: it's top secret tilala! GJC from Kyoto, JapanGreat graphics, starting with that shadow along the bottom of the shot. The power line does a fine job of dividing the picture up, and its shadow is terrific, too. Like this. 27 Oct 2008 7:08am paolo from castelnuovo, Italyi think those two shadows makes the image. 27 Oct 2008 11:37am lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaI like that roofline. Have to agree about the shadows. 27 Oct 2008 12:34pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomVery different to ''The Bodyshop''. Nice old look to this image, and the two shadows is an added visual element. 27 Oct 2008 1:29pm @Observing: you've got a good memory. i'd say it's the difference between urban and suburban versions of the same business. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesThey look like experts:-) Neat capture. 27 Oct 2008 1:40pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United States...of course the shadows make it. best...jerry 27 Oct 2008 3:13pm @ordinaryimages: thanks jerry daina from New York, United StatesFor me, besides mood and observation of society and time, your images are about division of space on a flat plane. Even when you use wide angle lenses and photograph scenes where one can see into the distance you compose your images so that they remain as flat as possible and two dimensional. One is made very aware of the composition and its elements - the shadows, the lines that divide the rectangle into different shapes and sizes. Your compositions have a very abstract and painterly sensibility. 27 Oct 2008 3:19pm @daina: daina, the only thing i enjoy more than your comments are your photographs. thanks again. don from spokane, United StatesA fine graphic/street scene. I like the composition with its blocks and lines. Nice one. 27 Oct 2008 3:24pm Nilla from County Östergötland, SwedenIt looks like the corner you showed us the 9th of October! (linen service) I like this even better, because the shadws are more prominent! 27 Oct 2008 3:55pm @Nilla: thanks nilla. you have a good eye. these places are pretty close to each other. Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesFor a body shop, this building certainly has a bit of design to it. That No Parking sign makes me laugh. Nice shot. 27 Oct 2008 4:33pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery nice comp[osition - I like the two shadows 27 Oct 2008 5:02pm Elaine- from Vancouver, Canadavery cool shot.. it reminds me of that movie 'rumble fish', which i love... well done you!! 27 Oct 2008 5:04pm rhys from United Kingdomman, these get better and better. I think you should publish a book. 27 Oct 2008 5:36pm Mindy from United StatesAnother desolate and nostalgic image which makes me wonder if Kansas has been lucky enough to have missed mini-malls and chain stores. If it's like the rest of this country, I applaud you for not only your photographic skill, but great prowess in finding these 'neat' places. 27 Oct 2008 5:57pm @Mindy: :-) we're crawling with strip malls. sometimes i photograph them too... Joe the Plunger from Ames, Iowa, United StatesWoot, Seagull! Interesting how well that simple 3-element lens does (or did you get the 'advanced' 4-element?) 27 Oct 2008 10:25pm @Joe the Plunger: i'm not sure, can't seem to find the documentation. on the taking lens is says 3-G 4-E, which i'm guessing means that yes, i have the pinnacle of seagull technology. i bought this new, but on ebay, several years ago. as i remember, it was quite a bargain. Polydactyle from Montréal, CanadaBeautiful! great shadows, angles, lines... A lot of nice litles details. I like a lot your "eye" gbe! 28 Oct 2008 12:14am @Polydactyle: thanks p! Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesI think you may have something here.... :-) 28 Oct 2008 4:02am dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Stateswonderful lines -- can't get enough of those telephone wires! and the shadows on the brick wall give this so much depth! wow! 28 Oct 2008 4:12am Bill from Belton, United StatesGreat Shot Grant! Love your contrasty style. (FYI... shot my first roll of MF film yesterday. Amazing how quickly 15 frames go through a camera!) 28 Oct 2008 4:24am @Bill: i can't wait to see the results. it's funny you would say that about the 15 frames. i guess a camera can condition one's style of shooting. i was slightly annoyed sunday that i had two (med. format) cameras with partial rolls left in them after a weekend of shooting. Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiawonderful Grant. This leaps out of the screen at me. I'd love to see this on paper. cameras aside your work is marvellous !! 28 Oct 2008 5:02am @Matt Sutton: thanks matt. your comment about cameras is on the mark - it's never the camera, is it? i'm just a bit of a junky... |
