lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaOffice? looks nothing like an office, especially with those ferny type plants around it. Unusual verandha too :) The composition and the beautiful patch of sunlight really make the photo. 1 Nov 2008 10:07am Reiner from Brensbach, GermanyYou have an eye for abandoned places, Grant. I like the lights on the wall. Well spotted. 1 Nov 2008 10:10am Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomFoundry office...? lol it must have been a small foundry. Wonderful shaot Grant, it could be a great summer house . 1 Nov 2008 12:53pm @Observing: well...it's a trailer. the foundry was very small from what i can tell, made small statues. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaWhoa, that shadow by the window is quite amazing. Beautifully framed and captured light! 1 Nov 2008 1:04pm JJ from Jersey City, United Statesit looks rural with all the ferns, I gather the foundry must be behnd this building, another wonderful piece, love the lighting on the wall by the window 1 Nov 2008 1:37pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesexhibits a quietness, and the fern like leaves of the sumac provide an ethereal setting. best...jerry 1 Nov 2008 1:58pm don from spokane, United StatesI like the hidden-away feeling of this old building in the trees and brush. The light breaking through helps give the shot a nice range of near white to near black. Fine shot. 1 Nov 2008 2:09pm @don: thanks very much don Paul van der Meer from Valkenswaard, NetherlandsWhat a atmosphere and mood Grant! a storytelling picture! 1 Nov 2008 2:29pm daina from New York, United StatesWhat a tender image Grant! It is as if you let go of your very strong focus for a bit. Perhaps I am not expressing myself too well here (don't want to be misunderstood) Many of your images are very direct and strong with an uncompromising vision, just like the stark shifts from light to dark - shadow/light in them. But this (even with the strong light shadow component) has a totally different feel. Very lovely... 1 Nov 2008 3:35pm @daina: it's interesting you would say that. there was something about this place. it was abandoned, but in a way that seemed particularly sad to me. Bill from Belton, United StatesThis location looks to actually be abandoned.... unlike most of your images. Great shot that gives one a lot to look at and wonder about. 1 Nov 2008 4:50pm @Bill: that's exactly right bill. it was a bit eerie in fact. Lucca from Cologne, GermanyThe light and shadows are simply wonderful. I really would like to know if you were waiting for that light. 1 Nov 2008 6:48pm @Lucca: thanks lucca. in a way i did. we were there for a long time, so i was able to watch it change. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesA great find, Grant. I love the trellis and the door with the sunlight streaming on it is exceptional. You were there just at the right time for everything to click. 2 Nov 2008 3:50am @sherri: thanks sherri Will Williams from Bailey, United StatesLove the few streams of light hitting the building through all the over growth, looks very secluded. 3 Nov 2008 1:57am @Will Williams: thanks will. it is secluded to the point of being creepy, in my opinion. i've fairly recently gotten a jeep, and i don't think we could have gotten to this place otherwise. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesAnother impressive transformation from the mundane to the interesting. 4 Nov 2008 11:04pm |
