Mindy from United StatesPerfectly framed. Love the textures and shapes in this Quonset hut. What sort of foundry is it? 2 Nov 2008 5:17am @Mindy: thanks mindy. it seems to have been closed for years. in places it's called an "art foundry." it looks like they made mostly small statues. ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesreminiscent of "metal shed" best...jerry 2 Nov 2008 5:44am Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiawonderfully framed Grant. shedman and shadowman unite !! 2 Nov 2008 7:23am @Matt Sutton: :-) thanks matt Nilla from County Östergötland, SwedenMultiply perfect! Love every detail in this great photo tones, framing and all the tares. (and of course the little sign " No (parking?) here". GREAT!!! 2 Nov 2008 9:27am @Nilla: thanks so much nilla (and you've got a good eye - yes, no parking allowed) daina from New York, United StatesThis one, for me, is more about the different textures and their lines i.e. the leaves, the lines in the roof and windows. The curve of the roof is a wonderful element in the composition. The touches of light create an easy mood. Terrific composition. 2 Nov 2008 2:53pm Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomGreat shot Grant.... it would be good to go in and look for old documents, or old equipment. Look's as the nature is taking it over. 2 Nov 2008 3:27pm @Observing: we made some fascinating finds that day. i was completely creeped out, but my fearless partner would not let us leave. don from spokane, United StatesI like the curve in this structure and the wide range tones. You achieve a remarkable subtly in the contrast which gives your pictures a smooth professional look from dark to light. Nice work. 2 Nov 2008 3:58pm JJ from Jersey City, United Stateswow Love this, nicely framed, so many different textures on and surrounding the building, truly beautiful capture of this old foundry 2 Nov 2008 4:32pm rhys from United Kingdomlooks a great place for exploring. did you go in? Great image 2 Nov 2008 7:20pm @rhys: i would never knowing break the law, unless i was faking bravery in front of my fearless girlfriend. that's all i've got to say. Bill from Belton, United StatesThis side of the foundry is even more interesting than the other. Love the shrubs(?) around the door. (Hope you didn't disobey the sign and parked in front of the door!) 2 Nov 2008 9:37pm Will Williams from Bailey, United StatesThose huge windows are amazing with all the panes of glass, again, great lighting. 3 Nov 2008 1:59am GJC from Kyoto, JapanYou are able to find the most amazing places. It seems that you're the only person that lives in Kansas, and the whole rest of the state left you behind. Your vision is very intriguing. 3 Nov 2008 3:13am @GJC: i love this comment. thanks gjc. sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesI like the portion of this structure you captured with the curved roof. It's perfectly framed in the foliage. Exceptional abandoned structure image:-) 3 Nov 2008 4:39am @Annie Viguié: thank you annie Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesAn art foundry:-) The next best thing to a greenhouse, which is what I was expecting this to be. It's so nicely hidden away by nature's growth. Fantastic photograph. 3 Nov 2008 9:43pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesI don't know what type of foundry this is, but I do know the leafy plants surrounding the foundry is a type of aggressive weed-tree out here in California. But hey, looks kinda like a jungle in your shot, which makes the oval structure stand out even more. 4 Nov 2008 8:32am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesNice landscaping. I don't know where the bottleneck is, my ISP, or Aminus, but it's taking me up to 60 seconds from the time I click post comment until it posts. That just kills my attempt to catch up. 4 Nov 2008 11:04pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI really like the depth and tones. I wish I could take a photo like this! 5 Nov 2008 5:15am |
