rhys from United KingdomThere is a precarious feel to this, maybe its the slight lean on the trailer; will it tip over? Will that oil drum be squashed if it does? Is the wedge of the shadow pushing it? 4 Nov 2008 6:37am Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThat's recycling...... putting the old trailer to good use, is this the changing rooms..? Good shot that suggests a small local football club, I like the lack of flashy glitz. 4 Nov 2008 7:03am @Observing: i know almost nothing about this - stumbled upon it. but, i can tell you it's for a high school football team. the school is very near, so i don't think they need to change here. it looks like it's wired for an announcer on loud speaker, and possible has a place to sell food. Mindy from United StatesVery cool image. Agree with the above. Would love to see the goal posts and uniforms, too. 4 Nov 2008 7:23am @Mindy: thanks mindy. there was no one in sight at the time. i tried a goal post shot, but didn't like it. Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesNice contrast and nice shot. I see Viking football is being played on gravel instead of grass huh? :) 4 Nov 2008 8:09am @Howard F.: grass is for sissies :-) ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statesit's all tied up! best...jerry 4 Nov 2008 1:08pm daina from New York, United StatesAlong with the wispy clouds and the familiar strong shadows I love the sign with the 00 and the doohickey on top. One feels the emptiness of the place and the 0 reinforce it. 4 Nov 2008 1:24pm JJ from Jersey City, United Statesanother very visually pleasing and thought provoking shot, wonderful use of light d shadow t highlight the building, the interest in as has been mentioned in early posts it does seem to have a slight lean and one wonders if it will fall and if so when, and it does seem also a small town sports field with a plain and non high tech scoreboard, is it still used or has there field been moved and upgraded 4 Nov 2008 2:06pm @JJ: i'm really not sure jj, but it appears to be still in use. thanks for your comment. don from spokane, United StatesA provocative photo that makes me wonder about the level of the Viking football team. The old-style scoreboard is very appealing and somewhat nostalgic. One thing about non-tech scoreboards they don't have power failures! Nice shot. 4 Nov 2008 3:27pm @don: good point about the scoreboard. this is a a fairly small town high school. Alejandro Caballero from Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, SpainMuy buena, lo demas lo sabes, jejeje....un saludo. 4 Nov 2008 6:04pm Bill from Belton, United StatesGrant I love your Vikings football shot immensely.... but my attention for the moment has been sidetracked by Daina (see above) and her mention of a DOOHICKEY. It has been a long time since I last saw that word (once common) used in a public venue. Kinda returns me to my roots. DOOHICKEY.... a perfectly wonderful word tucked away in your vocabulary to be resuscitated whenever you can't think of the REAL name of of something or you just don't know what the thing is. I gotta try to use it more often... Lord knows that more often than not I have no idea what it is... and the older I get the more often I find this to be true. doohickey.. yes 4 Nov 2008 8:13pm @Bill: i like the word too bill! a step above thingamajig or whatchamacallit... paolo from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, Italyis there a gazebo behind the billboard? 4 Nov 2008 9:50pm @paolo: exactly - it seems to be a collapsible frame. i'm guessing some sort of tarp goes over it. i don't know much though - just happened to be driving by. Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI'm tempted to say I wish I could find stuff like this, but I think the reality is that I'm finding it, but just not seeing it. 4 Nov 2008 10:53pm @Twelvebit: the thing is, i'm a pretty eco-unfriendly photo hunter. i'm reluctant to admit it, but an ideal day is a long sunday spent alone driving aimlessly (with camera). Joe the Cautiously Optimistic from Ames, Iowa, United StatesThis is really nicely done, detail and tonal variation everywhere. Really brings the "bleakness" home. :-) 5 Nov 2008 3:24am Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesYou've captured a feeling of emptiness in this photo. 5 Nov 2008 5:02am |
