Bill from Belton, United StatesWonderful use of light and shadow Grant. Every shade between pure white and absolute black. 6 Nov 2008 5:17am dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesjust amazing solace -- i feel like these shots are taken from another, distant time... say the 50's or 60's. beautifully done -- i just love your work -- as you should know by now!! ;) excellent lines, shapes, shadows, tones and textures -- bravo!! 6 Nov 2008 7:24am @dj.tigersprout: thanks very much dj. i really appreciate your enthusiastic comments. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomAnother fine piece of work with that amazing mellow sunlight, the foreground of the garage is exactly hi-lighted by the sun. Cool work Grant. 6 Nov 2008 7:41am @Observing: thanks mike Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesI have to say- this is a very clean looking garage. The down spouts are straight, paint looks fresh, and a pair of nice garage doors. Cool shot Grant. 6 Nov 2008 7:59am @Howard F.: it's better cared for than mine :-) lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaWhat ornate windows it has for a garage or is that not uncommon there? it's definitely uncommon here. It looks so clean too and yet the pavement looks less than pristine. Funny how that overhead wire looks like it vanishes on the right side then reappears . 6 Nov 2008 9:01am @lisa v: i'm guessing those are just plastic inserts made to give the appearance of window panes. GJC from Kyoto, JapanA really strong shot, and as usual good compositional use of shadows from "outside" the frame whether you want to claim credit or not :) 6 Nov 2008 11:34am @GJC: :-) thanks gjc daina from New York, United StatesHad to smile at your title - you detached the garage with the shadow from the rest of the scene. And of course the wires swooping in are terrific and your signature white among the darks. Strong image... 6 Nov 2008 2:51pm don from spokane, United StatesAn interesting design in these garage doors. It made a fine subject and needed a nice, wide range of tones from black to white... which you did very well. 6 Nov 2008 3:39pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery nice lighting and mood of lonelyness 6 Nov 2008 4:30pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesExceptional lines and shadows in this image. The sunlight has really been working in your favor in the last several images. Love those power lines again the sky. 6 Nov 2008 7:49pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI have to wonder where the shadow on the door comes from. As always, I really like your view, the way you captures the lines and the moods you create. 6 Nov 2008 9:20pm Alejandro Caballero from Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, SpainMe encanta la iluminacion y las sombras, saluods. 6 Nov 2008 10:44pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesMellow --used by one of the previous commenters-- is a good term. 6 Nov 2008 11:27pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesYou certainly make good use of your beloved Tmax, here. Beautiful geometry and tone. 7 Nov 2008 4:06am @Stephen Phillips: thanks stephen JJ from Jersey City, United Statesanother stunning capture with the sunlight and shadows 9 Nov 2008 3:09am Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesPower lines and shadows.
