Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomIn the knowledge that I'm repeating myself.... another excellent shot. ! 10 Nov 2008 6:31am cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelI like how you've framed the big house in the wires, so it's bounded in its own space. 10 Nov 2008 6:38am @cat: i love that explanation. these buildings do seem alive to me. Nilla from County Östergötland, SwedenYou´ve the best b&w blog at whole Aminus 3, do you know that??? 10 Nov 2008 6:52am @Nilla: nilla, i'm very honored. thanks so much! Mindy from United Statesgreat framing within the frame. love the relationship of larger to smaller structure and how the wires and pole shadow add another layer of interest. 10 Nov 2008 7:17am Matt Sutton from Sydney, AustraliaYEAH GRANT !!!! I agree with Nilla.... its all your fault man.... I am hooked on your work as well. All jokes aside this is a very meaningful and thoughtful piece of work. YOu are a pure "discoverer". Many photographer are simply "manufacturers". Not you!! You discover work and present it like this as it is. 10 Nov 2008 7:19am @Matt Sutton: thanks matt - very much appreciated. GJC from Kyoto, JapanOK, you know how I hate overhead wires in my own photography, but here you show how terrific they can be. The wires, to me, "make" the photo because they give us a confined space for the photo and have such graceful arcs to them. Well done. 10 Nov 2008 8:18am @GJC: it's part of my plot to convert you... Alejandro Caballero from Sant Boi de Llobregat, Barcelona, SpainDe nuevo te felicito, me encanta como trabajas las sombras y la desaturacion, un fuerte abrazo!!! 10 Nov 2008 11:11am @Alejandro Caballero: thanks alex! paolo from castelnuovo, Italyi like the little box wired ! 10 Nov 2008 2:11pm @paolo: i think you are exactly right. daina from New York, United StatesYes, to all the above comments! Wonderful image! 10 Nov 2008 3:07pm @daina: thanks daina! sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesExtraordinary capture, Grant. The pole and lines work so well in framing around these structures. I love it. 10 Nov 2008 4:42pm @sherri: thanks sherri! don from spokane, United StatesI especially like how the two buildings play off each other's shapes. A fine image. 10 Nov 2008 4:47pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesInteresting structures and a winning capture - nicely done! 10 Nov 2008 5:33pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United Statessimple, but effective use of line. best...jerry 10 Nov 2008 6:26pm Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesThe symmetry in your photograph is fantastic. What an eye! 10 Nov 2008 6:32pm @Rachael: thanks rachael! Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesI like the railroad shed in KC. The ones next to my office building is a shiny metal box with dings and bullet holes. Nice shot. 10 Nov 2008 7:59pm @Howard F.: so you shoot from your window when the meetings become too frustrating? Bill from Belton, United StatesThe more I see your work Grant the more I appreciate highlights and shadows, framing and perspective. Great shot! 10 Nov 2008 10:36pm @Bill: thanks bill! @Twelvebit: thanks (x3). you know i appreciate the comments. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Stateswow -- if Dali did photos (and i did hear that he had done a few) this might be a work of his! a wonderful and quite surreal shot -- the background adds an ominous touch -- though i can't exactly figure it out! but the way the electrical wire is strung into 3/4rth of a square with the upright pole anchoring the photo is truly wonderful!! of course what pushes this photo over the brilliance line is the sharp diagonal shadow running through the foreground!! amazingly done mate -- bravo!! 11 Nov 2008 3:22am @dj.tigersprout: thanks dj. i'm amazed at your comments! JJ from Jersey City, United StatesAll I can say is WOW your work is so inspiring, I would dream of getting a shot a quarter as good as any of your captures 11 Nov 2008 3:32am @JJ: thanks jj. you're way too kind. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaHow did I miss this one? This is brilliant! Positively surreal and I see 4 entirely different photographs within this single frame. The powerlines that form a diamond shape over the taller of the two buildings is symbolic. The 'wow' factor here is huge!! 12 Nov 2008 9:27pm @bluechameleon: thanks very much bc Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesThis is kind of different for you. It's almost a "happy" shot. No dark tones. Very light. Very nice. And thank you so much Grant for all your comments. ( I feel like I can call you "Grant" now instead of gbe!) 13 Nov 2008 4:59am @Teresa: i love that "almost a 'happy' shot"! and yes, i think you can call me 'grant.' :-) Alphons from Kaatsheuvel, NetherlandsVery beautiful composition of planes and lines. I like the B&W 16 Nov 2008 12:38am |
