bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaAh, I like the fence in this shot and how it angles across the building. This is a great image with wonderful layers: fence, structure, sky. 19 Nov 2008 5:18am Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiathis is wonderful Grant. the lighting is very special. like that photo of the semi-trailer and the warehouse. 19 Nov 2008 5:31am @Matt Sutton: thanks matt RHYS from United KingdomThat fence just says 'climb me and come over to investigate'. I'd be so tempted to go over (or under) and check the building out, it looks very intriguing. Did you? There is a lot of enticement in this image combined with restraint. Marvelous. 19 Nov 2008 6:37am @RHYS: i would have loved to. but, despite the look of the place from this photo, it's not abandoned. to the left of what is in the frame were several workers. they seemed quite suspicious of me taking pictures even on the legal side of the fence! cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelThe blocked up windows in the building remind me of the "Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil" monkeys (I do hope that makes some sense :P) It's a very desolate image. 19 Nov 2008 7:34am Bill from Belton, United StatesVery interesting image. Love the play of dark and light.... the building versus the snow.... and the drive that leads me around the site. 19 Nov 2008 8:24am @Bill: thanks bill. (now snow though. just gravel. this was just a couple weeks ago in kc). Reiner from Brensbach, GermanyLooks like a prison rather than a warehouse. Definitely a cold and abandoned place. Again well spotted, great photo. 19 Nov 2008 12:30pm @Reiner: thanks reiner. it feels even more that way in person - very unfriendly - lots of warning and keep out signs, security gate, etc. daina from New York, United StatesWhere to begin? The woods you have let go completely dark and the windows are boarded up with a fence in front of the building. It is as if nothing gets in or out of the place and it is ominous in a sort of casual everyday way i.e. a dreary place one would pass without much thought. But there is this thin tentative, almost unnoticeable line coming from the building and reaching up to an unseen place high up. Oh those details you include... 19 Nov 2008 2:16pm @daina: thanks for this and all your other comments daina. for me this is nearly the prototypical anonymous building. even after going there several times to try to get a photo, i have no idea what it is, or why it secured like this. Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesI'm sorry I can't write a commentary like some, but I do like this. I have to agree with Reiner. It has the feel of a prison. We have storage businesses like this too and I believe you've accomplished this look with your fine processing. A stunning result. 19 Nov 2008 3:53pm @Rachael: thanks rachael. i can't comment worth a damn. it's always good to know people are looking :-) Gary from Cochise County, United StatesI reall don't know what I could add that has not been said. I like the image and the angles of the fence. 19 Nov 2008 4:40pm don from spokane, United StatesA nice shot of this office-type building now made into a warehouse. I like the way you placed it in the frame. Nice one. 19 Nov 2008 5:51pm @don: thanks don. to be honest, i really don't know what this building is. the signage is vague, the entrance is very secure. there are big trucks around...so i guessed. JJ from Jersey City, United Statesanother wonderful capture love the layers, fence warehouse sky etc 19 Nov 2008 6:10pm Shirin S. Moosavi from Tehran, IranThe clouds look lovely in BW! Nice composition and frame altogether :) 19 Nov 2008 7:40pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesThere's a feeling like a curtain or something here. I usually try to avoid these fences but you've managed to make it work for you here. 19 Nov 2008 11:40pm @Twelvebit: thanks. i hated that i couldn't get around it. i even tried standing on my car (with the suspicious workers really looking). in the end, i figured i'd just have to try to work it into the photo. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomThe windows bricked up, and yet it looks in good condition. Do you know what it used to be...? 20 Nov 2008 12:09am @Observing: it still is something, and a well protected something. but i have no idea what. Marcie from United StatesNice composition. Especially like the angle of the fence juxtaposed against the squareness of the structure. Love the monochromatic tones and processing. 20 Nov 2008 1:20am dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesa beauty of a shot -- with the subject much further than usual!! but what an amazing sky!! and that sole telephone wire...? amazing!!! 20 Nov 2008 4:45am sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesWow...I don't think I would have told what this place is. It really does look like a prison. I like it. 20 Nov 2008 6:24pm Denis from Third blackhole after the supernova, VanuatuSinging landscape... 20 Nov 2008 7:37pm Lucca from Cologne, GermanyThis house looks very myserious. // I love how the clouds come out. 20 Nov 2008 9:59pm Polydactyle from Montréal, CanadaAnother nice desert place. The lines are so nice too. 24 Nov 2008 2:19pm |
