RHYS from United KingdomThis is an interesting one. There is an odd window in the corner that's partially covered by the 'tires' building. Are 'tires' the same as 'tyres' ? There's a curious bracket on the roof of the tire building- its function? I'm asking lots of questions and that's why its a great image. 13 Jan 2009 6:28am @RHYS: thanks rhys. if 'tyres' are what go round and round on cars, then yes. i think there's probably a garage door marked 'oil,' for oil changes, and maybe one more. the bracket is almost certainly the remaining one of two that held up a basketball backboard and hoop. cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelI like the leaves on the floor and the wonderful sky beyond -- this yard seems very closed in and the sky is a reminder of the freedom outside. 13 Jan 2009 7:36am kerfendal from Paris, FranceI like the composition you choose with the clouds which seems to escape from the frame 13 Jan 2009 9:19am Nilla from Continent: Europe, SwedenI do not really like about lean-tos that do not harmonize with the original buildings. But in your pictures, it will be spectacular with these different additions. Nice photo as usual. 13 Jan 2009 2:59pm @Nilla: thank you nilla. i'm guessing visual harmony was low on the list of priorities at this business... Don Wiley from spokane, United StatesThis is a very interesting picture of this add-on building. Apparently the builder chose this odd placement of the addition without regard for the window. Fine print quality. 13 Jan 2009 3:47pm @Don Wiley: thanks don, and i'm pretty sure you're right about the thinking that went into this construction. dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesThere are a lot of very different elements in this composition that come together in a very unique way. Great angles colliding as well as nature and architecture. Really nice. 13 Jan 2009 5:35pm Robert from Kingsville, CanadaNicely done Grant . Exposure is very good considering the bright white you had to deal with . 13 Jan 2009 5:40pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesI'm so envious - - - where to you keep those skies you keep finding??? Excellent! 13 Jan 2009 7:24pm @Stephen Phillips: thanks stephen. the weather changes here every five or ten minutes, so, with a little patience... daina from United StatesI like the little details in this so very much – the thingamajig on the roof, the tank in the corner and the tires sign. And of course everything juts up against each other in a most interesting fashion. And the viewer facing the corner is a nice effect. 13 Jan 2009 8:17pm Bill from Belton, United StatesI would wager that the leaves here have not been disturbed by anything but the wind for a long time! Marvelous clouds and great composition Grant! 13 Jan 2009 8:24pm Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australialets just build here over a window. amazing. are these builing used? 13 Jan 2009 11:39pm @Matt Sutton: it's hard to tell matt. i took this (and many other of my pictures) on a sunday, in an area that i never see during regular working hours. probably yes, but it would be no surprise if this or some of the others were out of business. Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomA fine shot showing what appears to be a garage or repair shop...? I really like the light, very nice Grant. 14 Jan 2009 12:16am @Observing: thanks mike, and you're right. sherri from United StatesSo neglected. Those leaves will hide a multitude of spiders and the possibility of a snake come warmer temps. 14 Jan 2009 1:34am John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesLove the amazing number of patterns and lines in this image. Great angle for this shot, interesting composition. 14 Jan 2009 3:02am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThe assortment of lines here is so intriguing. Different shapes and sizes but yet they all meld together perfectly. Great composition. 14 Jan 2009 4:39am GJC from Kyoto, JapanI like the composition, which closes us in and makes us meditate on the detritus on the ground and the lack of any exit. A powerful piece of work. 14 Jan 2009 6:25am @GJC: thanks gjc Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesAmazing construction job- I wonder what the view is like looking through that window being cut off at the end ;) 14 Jan 2009 8:27am @Teresa: thanks teresa |
