Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United StatesDid is an excellent still life...well, maybe that's not the right description since this is most likely photographed as found. I like the window light and the overall effect. Holga? 26 Feb 2009 6:24am @Suzanne: thanks suzanne - it's as found in a seldom used room in our house. and, yes, taken with a holga. cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelI like the idea of a found still-life. It describes this nicely - I like the strangeness that the Holga gives, it makes the objects look odd, slightly unworldly. There's a Russian word for it as a technique, but it doesn't translate very well, it's 'ostranenie' which sort of means 'making strange'. 26 Feb 2009 7:22am @cat: i like the word, even if it can't be translated perfectly. thanks cat. TILALA from Bordeaux, FranceEt toujours cette impression d'abandon, qui est la marque de tes photos... J'aime beaucoup celle-ci.... 26 Feb 2009 9:04am Makoto from Sapporo, JapanI want to see more Holga shots from you :) 26 Feb 2009 11:53am @Makoto: thanks makoto. i'll try. Excellent! 26 Feb 2009 7:56pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesVery interesting collection you got there. Love the light. 26 Feb 2009 8:03pm Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United StatesDamn, this one hits home, conveys a sense of distance, loss, time encroaching then speeding away. The corner vignetting adds to the impact. 26 Feb 2009 9:26pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesBeautiful Holga capture. Looks like there could be some real treasures in there. 26 Feb 2009 10:02pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesA lot of stuff perfect for a yard sale in the Green Room. Or should we call it the green room sale? Beautiful still life. 26 Feb 2009 11:09pm @Howard F.: howard, we couldn't possible part with any of these treasures... michele from Canadaa visual feast. especially like the mirror and reflection. (thanks for the changing bag tip - good idea) 27 Feb 2009 2:11am @michele: thanks michele (and you're welcome) EYES WIDE SHUT from United KingdomThis works so splendidly. So many items which tell a tale, and beautifully observed in mono. A life laid out in a frame. Perfection 27 Feb 2009 4:57am daina from New York, United StatesLove the light and how it “graces” the intricate, decorative objects. The Holga softens the light and the outlines of everything, and makes it all come together in a way that sharpness and distinct delineation can’t. A dreamy mood and feeling. - perhaps a bit nostalgic as well. 27 Feb 2009 3:22pm |
