ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesStrange, get your stamps and a Cannon. best...jerry 10 Mar 2009 5:55am @ordinaryimages: a real convenience store. Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesReally dig those two lanterns on the ground, and in-front of a Federal building too. Nice shot. 10 Mar 2009 7:45am Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomThe two lanterns really pull this shot together, well seen. 10 Mar 2009 11:21am Marcie from United StatesLove how the building fills the frame. The shadows and light are excellent. 10 Mar 2009 11:26am david from columbus, ohio, United Statesmost people would have stolen the lamps, here they steal the hangers :-) 10 Mar 2009 12:13pm @david: if you try to steal in beverly you just might get shot, and not by the cops... Annie Viguié from Bordeaux, FranceWhat is attractive in this photo, it is the play of the shadows. Rights which zigzag suddenly. I also like that we see the inside of the store through the window. The small lanterns in the entrance on each side are delicious. 10 Mar 2009 1:24pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesA little bit of everything: Cannon, sunkist and stamps! Nice eye. 10 Mar 2009 1:29pm daina from New York, United StatesThose two lamps in an odd way mimic each “store” front that they sit in front of as if they were a smaller version of them. There is an alien quality to this – in a good way :} 10 Mar 2009 3:29pm don from spokane, United StatesYou made a great selection to spot and shoot this image with all the lines. Nice contrasts in the shot too. Well exposed and processed. 10 Mar 2009 4:47pm Bill from Belton, United StatesA light unto my feet! A marvelous shot Grant! The lamps and the bars across the windows grabbed me. Since the bars pose little if any security I would think they are there solely to discourage sitting in the window while discussing the crops. 10 Mar 2009 5:46pm @Bill: you know, it's a good point about the bars. i had just assumed they provided security, but of course they wouldn't. yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery nice tones and a melancholic mood - I like it 10 Mar 2009 6:45pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesI won't find a poster with your photo on it inside, will I? 10 Mar 2009 9:11pm @Twelvebit: i swear i've never been charged with a crime in beverly. michele from Canadathe lamps on the ground are odd. i like though that there is no obvious answer in the image. and i also like that you give us just a little sliver of beyond the building. 10 Mar 2009 9:53pm Observing from North West, United KingdomYou've caught that mellow sun and shadows again... perfect, and the small view on the right gives the image breathing space. 10 Mar 2009 11:52pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesThe lanterns are so odd to this - yet there they are. An intriguing image, Grant 11 Mar 2009 3:32am lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaExcept for the lanterns, which I find quite out of place really, this could have been taken in any country town here. 11 Mar 2009 4:32am sherri from Little Rock, United StatesExceptional capture. Wonderful storefront style appeal and the light and shadows are magnificent. 11 Mar 2009 6:09am dik from McAllen, United StatesInteresting movement how the eye is pulled into the picture quickly from the left and then meanders on the right, then slowly back to repeat the process. Another great composition. 12 Mar 2009 3:00am Teresa from Mountain View, United Statesnot sure if those little lanterns add to the place or if they are out of place. :-) 12 Mar 2009 5:21am Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiaa wonderful slant with the lamp-posts on the ground 12 Mar 2009 5:58am Gavin from Ramsau am Dachstein, AustriaGrant, 12 Mar 2009 10:22pm @Gavin: thanks very much gavin Rachael from Heber Springs, United StatesThe bars on the windows seem strange for a post office & the lamps are on the sidewalk. You found an unusual place. 12 Mar 2009 11:23pm @Rachael: i think it's more than a post office - a store with a post office inside it. |
