The patterns with the rectangles are simply wonderful. It's a picture made of them, right down to the bricks and the stickers with the numbers on. And then the oval shape of the light breaks it up and draws the eye. It's quite excellent.

A prison like place with strange markings on the door – straight out of Kafka – at least a modern version for prisoner #1237. One can imagine this low brick building, that resembles a barracks, extending a long way in both directions. What contradicts this feeling is the huge white mail box the patch of grass and the wide walk way to the door, and perhaps it is just the rear entrance to a store after all…

@daina: i had a reaction very similar to yours. this and yesterday's shot were taken about fifty feet apart. oh, and these are the front entrances, believe it or not.

Gosh, is that a house or a business? Looks grim whichever, however its the 'grimness' that makes it oddly appealing.

feels like there are secrets behind that door and packages with plain brown paper wrappers in the mailbox. love the composition where we see only part of the grass and only part of the sidewalk.
