Annie Viguié from Bordeaux, FranceI like the alignment of electric poles with the house 24 Mar 2009 5:19am Matt Sutton from Sydney, AustraliaWell done Grant. It has a real cold abandoned feel 24 Mar 2009 5:43am Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesNot often you see a rural house with bars on the windows. Nice shot! 24 Mar 2009 5:53am cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelSuch a rich shot, the patterns in the snow and the bits of debris left around the house... it looks so lonely and yet the light is so warm. There are small signs that people have been here all around, even though they are absent from the shot. It seems full of stories somehow. 24 Mar 2009 6:17am jpla from St Barthélémy d'Anjou, FranceTrès belle composition et très joli N&B. 24 Mar 2009 8:24am dik from McAllen, United StatesNice composition with the bit of snow on the top left of roof, great accent. Sky is subtle but rich. 24 Mar 2009 11:35am Marcie from United StatesLove the charcoal greys in this. Almost looks like a charcoal sketch. 24 Mar 2009 11:46am dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesGreat composition. Great b/w tones in the sky. 24 Mar 2009 12:34pm daina from New York, United StatesNo footprints yet a dark shape in the snow of indeterminate origin. Something was there when the snow fell but is there no longer - a vehicle? A body? And smaller dark patches continue as it that something might have been dragged behind the house. The house, I don’t think was ever a home – perhaps a station of some kind – those sturdy bars are not for a cottage. Ah well we will never know. But stories, possibilities come to mind. The texture of the snow is almost touchable and the mood palpable. 24 Mar 2009 1:22pm @daina: i find that dark patch a bit creepy myself. don from Spokane, United StatesI like this stark shot of an old abandoned place. The barred windows suggest a mystery as to its past. 24 Mar 2009 2:58pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesA sad image, Grant. The snow lends to the cold, empty feel. 24 Mar 2009 3:10pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesThe light on the boarded door adds so much to this image. Well seen. 24 Mar 2009 4:38pm Alex from Barcelona, SpainMe gusta la nieve, este hinvierno ha tenido que ser muy duro, buen trabajo...como siempre. 24 Mar 2009 5:52pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecevery beautiful framing - I like the connection with the power lines and the tonality 24 Mar 2009 6:02pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomIts such a shame to see empty dwellings, the sense of lonely isolation comes across through the shot. 24 Mar 2009 6:28pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesSomeone lived here once. I wonder what had happened... Nice shot. Though sunny, it's a bit sad too. 24 Mar 2009 6:37pm Ian from A tranquil leafy place, United KingdomInteresting shot - the greyscale works well. 24 Mar 2009 8:54pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesMaybe someone is locked inside. best...jerry 25 Mar 2009 12:04am michele from Canadaoh i like this one a lot! was so surprised to read the comments about the image feeling sad - that didn't cross my mind i was just delighted when this one unfolded. i like that sun/shadow across the door and the wire line to the house and how the line of trees meets the house. 25 Mar 2009 1:38am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI really love your framing in this shot...a very emotive shot! 25 Mar 2009 3:11am EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomBars on the windows, bodies under the bed. Secrets whispered from behind the curtains. There is a dark brooding undercurrent rising from the scene. All is not as it seems. A wonderful, characterful shot that really stirs my thoughts. 25 Mar 2009 4:54am Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United StatesNicely framed and documented. An unfriendly looking place with those bars on the windows. 25 Mar 2009 4:56am observing from North West, United KingdomMaybe they got out before the snow came, an excellent image of a house that could have a secret. 25 Mar 2009 6:21am Teresa from Mountain View, United StatesI like how the left side of the house goes to the center of the frame and how the wires across the street disappear into the center of the frame as if they almost went into the house. Really like it. 26 Mar 2009 1:39am shallowregret from Kongsberg, Norwayfascinated by your area, it is so different from around here. You seem to have a lot of abandoned buildings and closed businesses. Great shot. 26 Mar 2009 11:31pm @shallowregret: well, they're there for the finding. but please don't take my photos as a representative sample of the area. i'm especially interesting in these empty places. Denis from the edge of my blackhole, KiribatiSad picture, yet attractive. All an atmosphere of decay 27 Mar 2009 3:44pm lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaRural, but still with security grill on the window. 28 Mar 2009 9:15pm |
