Annie Viguié from Bordeaux, Francei love ! A lot of people on a small space! I also like very much the black banner at the top with this very graphic inscription. What is it? 25 Mar 2009 6:15am @Annie Viguié: thanks annie. i don't have any idea about the banner though. i'd like to know too. observing from North West, United KingdomAsia comes to Kansas... good observation Grant, I suppose it's a specialized market. 25 Mar 2009 6:28am rhys from Belgiumgrand shot, I only wish i could understand some of the wares. However that does add an extra air of mystery. 25 Mar 2009 6:41am cat from Tel Aviv, IsraelIt has such a dreamy and a far away feel. I love looking at these images of films I've never seen or heard of. It has rather an old and dusty feel too and reminds me of tiny old shops in Soho in London. In the UK "Asian" means "India and Pakistan" rather than China and Japan. 25 Mar 2009 8:14am Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United StatesSo much here. Odd reaction maybe, but what this conveys to me is something like cultural dignity. 25 Mar 2009 10:23am @Stovepipe: it fits for me. this is not a store trying to appeal to the masses. david from Columbus, United Statesfascinating to see this and locate it in kansas... 25 Mar 2009 10:28am Marcie from United StatesWOW! Love the collage..the texture..the composition. Yes - something unexpected for rural Kansas. 25 Mar 2009 11:37am dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesGreat image. The mix of images within the image and the overall "Busyness" of the shot is really captivating. I could spend a lot of time looking through this shot but then again I do have a job! ;( 25 Mar 2009 12:27pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesCan't see anything through the windows....very different. 25 Mar 2009 2:28pm don from Spokane, United StatesI like the composition you created from the view available to you. This shot has much to see and requires some time to look it all over. Nice one. 25 Mar 2009 3:09pm kerfendal from Paris, Franceasia in Kansas, interesting how the world became so tiny 25 Mar 2009 3:23pm EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomCommunities within communities, the way of the modern world. No reflections in the windows, and the central band of shadow adds to the interest in this fine shot. 25 Mar 2009 4:31pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesCrisp Black&White. best...jerry 25 Mar 2009 4:59pm daina from New York, United StatesEven this feels familiar and it should not since I don’t go to Asian video and gift stores. But it does remind me of store fronts from the late 50ties and early sixties when I was growing up in Brooklyn. I would walk by stores that looked like this frequently. But then we did not have malls and the closest to Wal-Mart was the 5 and dime or Woolworths – they were very small compared to today’s versions. And those look like vinyl record covers. Almost nostalgic if it were not for the language – but then I spot the word flowers and it looks like it was made by a school child. Sorry for the long comment. Apart from my associations it is an interesting image where one fourth is almost empty and the rest crammed full of visual stuff that make me feel the same way I would when looking at found photos of people probably long gone. 25 Mar 2009 9:10pm @daina: i always appreciate your comments daina. i had a similar feel to yours of looking at old, found photos (which i've just been doing tonight). michele from Lethbridge, Canadareally striking - especially those letters at the top. i like how open they feel. i would image this scene to be almost garish in color - with b/w it feels graphic and appealing - almost like your image is a poster too. 26 Mar 2009 2:34am @michele: i hadn't thought about the colors. they're actually quite faded - faded in a way that gives a uniformity to all the posters. Stunner from Kingston, JamaicaThe b&w really makes give this shot character, great work! 26 Mar 2009 2:37am yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, Greecean image with a lot of informations - I like it 26 Mar 2009 4:47pm dik from McAllen, United StatesLooks a bit like a Raushenberg. Very nice wall of information. 26 Mar 2009 9:35pm @dik: he did go to the kansas city art institute. perhaps this is his :-) Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesWow, this feel a bit like L.A. Koreantown. 26 Mar 2009 9:59pm Mindy from United StatesSo many cultural layers here. Love it. Makes me hungry for kim chee. 27 Mar 2009 3:39pm |
