Annie Viguié from Bordeaux, FranceI like this kind of wooden house with a gallery on the front. The rocking chair is missing ;o) 20 May 2009 5:30am dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statesi love your choice of framing here mate -- beautiful old world!! (wonderful grassy textures too!) 20 May 2009 5:57am jpla from St Barthélémy d'Anjou, FranceLes maisons en bois aux usa sont différentes ! Bonne journée. 20 May 2009 6:55am jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesI hate to see this beautiful old houses uncared for. I like the frame. 20 May 2009 10:27am rhys from Belizethats soem grand architecture- such a shame to fall into ruin. A great docu shot. 20 May 2009 11:20am Nilla from Continent: Europe, SwedenThis had been a very beautiful house! It looks like one from one of all American films I´ve seen. I agrre with Annie Viguié here above....The rocking chair is missing!! 20 May 2009 3:22pm Don from spokane, United StatesI like the style of this house with the interesting columns. Houses today seem so antiseptic compared tot these older designs. Fine angle for this shot...and excellent black and white work. 20 May 2009 3:31pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesOh, Grant...this is an amazing structure. So ornate. I can imagine what a showplace it was in it's day. You've captured it nicely. 20 May 2009 3:55pm observing from North West, United KingdomLooks a great old house full of history, lovely image too. 20 May 2009 9:33pm @Twelvebit: didn't seem to be Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesThis reminds me of Main Street, Disneyland. What a beautiful house, why did it end up decaying like this I wonder... Nice find. 21 May 2009 1:16am @Howard F.: interesting. i've never been to disneyland. my guess on this one is that it's a victim of being in a small town - the people and the money just keep leaving. Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesObviously not a new house, but the door and windows look like recent additions. Beautiful place. 21 May 2009 2:04am Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United StatesI like this, especially the brambles around the front of the porch. But I guess Sleeping Beauty isn't in there waiting for some guy to break through. 21 May 2009 2:38am @Stovepipe: sure, she was there. i can't take a picture of everything... Bill from Belton, United StatesI love this old house Grant! Looks like it could be lived in again in short order! 21 May 2009 4:08am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaAbsolutely stunning! Love the darkness in the tones and the mood. Five stars, this is a masterpiece. 22 May 2009 3:52am Mindy | f-stopMarin from United StatesNow that's a welcoming portal. :) What a shame. Seems like it was a wonderful house. Is this a fairly recent foreclosure? 22 May 2009 6:29pm @Mindy | f-stopMarin: couldn't say - i was just passing through. lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaFascinating old place Grant, bet you wished you could go inside. 23 May 2009 11:09am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesMaybe it's my work laptop --not calibrated-- or just the order looking at images --since I didn't see it the first time I looked at this one-- but this seems to have a completely different impact than most of your other images: less buttery, less filmic, less tonal subtlety, more like what I could achieve with digital conversion to B&W. Is it different processing, time of day, something else? or just something a little different in the normal range of film images? 8 Jun 2009 3:21pm @Twelvebit: you have a good eye. i think it's the time of day. i was done shooting for the day, and came across this place on the way home. in my opinion, the light was already done. |
