jpla from St Barthélémy d'Anjou, FranceJolie cette compo d'ombres et de lumière ! Bonne journée. 28 May 2009 5:26am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaAnother stunning composition! The strong lines of the stairs demand attention and I also like the out of focus wires in the sky, criss-crossing over top of them. Bravo. 28 May 2009 5:39am jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesReally like the angles in this one. Very straight, angled lines everywhere. 28 May 2009 10:41am lisa v from Gawler, AustraliaI dont know how you do it Grant..I would take this photo and it would look as boring as batshit but you somehow make it so interesting. 28 May 2009 10:41am @lisa v: thanks lisa - i've got to remember 'as boring as batshit'! daina from United StatesThe handrails of the stairs seem to go every which way in the same way as the wires - sometimes your observations are subtle and I search for them, because I know that there is always something you are remarking on just below the obvious. However, I may not always see it or even misinterpret. 28 May 2009 1:38pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesAn unassuming study of seventy five lines : ] best...jerry 28 May 2009 1:58pm Don from spokane, United StatesI like the angle you chose for this shot. Wonderful choice in terms of darks and lights. Nice subject and very well shot! 28 May 2009 2:59pm Donald Kinney from United StatesVery graphic photo... Blocky and solid... 28 May 2009 3:03pm Stephen Phillips from San Francisco, United StatesHooray! More STUCCO! Nicely produced image, Grant. 28 May 2009 3:31pm Suzanne from Huntington Bch, California, United StatesGreat composition and, as usual, perfect image quality. 28 May 2009 5:42pm Richard_Irwin from Belper, United KingdomSuch perfect DOF, bang on the button with this fantastic B&W film camera shot. 28 May 2009 10:44pm dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statesa beautiful 90 degree angle -- up and too the left! love the shadow lines here too!! 29 May 2009 1:08am Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesThat's fantastic, I love the design and the zigzag form. I design and draw construction details of walls like this, and you almost cannot design a garden step/wall like this anymore here in LA because of many planning and aesthetic issues... But, nice find here. 29 May 2009 1:14am Bill from Belton, United StatesI totally understand what Lisa was saying Grant! As with most of your shots, this is quite simple on the face of it, but somehow becomes intricate and interesting. 29 May 2009 3:53am sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United Stateslol at michele's comment. I can identify:-) It is a wonderful composition. I didn't miss those wonderful power lines in the background either:-) 29 May 2009 5:03am Lucca from Cologne, GermanySomething like: How to take amazing images if there is nothing to see. Please teach me, Grant 31 May 2009 8:55pm @Lucca: thanks lucca - i don't think you need my help though. JamesC from portland, United StatesWow, this is simply excellent. I like the composition and the dark broad solid handrail tones constrast against the white stucco and the way the stairs starts on the left and rises up to the right and back into the left again. Depth of field is just perfect. Really impressive work here. 1 Jun 2009 6:02am @JamesC: thanks james Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesAs I catch up working my way backwards, this is my favorite image so far. There is something extraordinary about the rendering of the post and railing on the right. I think the key to this image is DOF. If less had been in focus, or more, it wouldn't have the power it does. 8 Jun 2009 3:06pm @Twelvebit: these stairs are directly across the street from today's shot. |
