bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaWhat a spooky looking old place...the 'picture frame' fence gives a surreal feel. 1 Jun 2009 5:05am Mindy | f-stopMarin from United StatesLove the compo. Can't stop thinking how easy it would be to huff and puff and blow this house down. 1 Jun 2009 6:16am ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesA quilt work of patches. best...jerry 1 Jun 2009 7:10am jpla from St Barthélémy d'Anjou, FranceSuperbe compo et cadrage intéressant ! Bonne journée. 1 Jun 2009 8:38am Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesSomeone is trying...in an interesting way...to keep it standing. Very intriquing image. 1 Jun 2009 12:19pm jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesThat is quite the patchwork house and such an elegant entryway. Great find. 1 Jun 2009 2:02pm david from columbus, ohio, United Stateslooks like one good puff of wind and this'll be carried away. excellent shot; i particularly like the composition. 1 Jun 2009 2:28pm Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United StatesNot Weston the famous photography family?? Interestingly laid out with the fence/gate and the electric lines overhead. There's a sense of order amidst the decay. 1 Jun 2009 2:31pm daina from United StatesLove how the gate frames an empty field without the house. It is like seeing what the place would look like without the house and right next to it is the field with the house. I like going between the two. For me the gate is the fascinating element and the house is a terrific and interesting addition. Great shot in many ways… 1 Jun 2009 2:36pm Don from spokane, United StatesAn amazing patchwork of pieces all over this house. Interesting nice quality gate. A neat shot to spot and shoot. 1 Jun 2009 2:48pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, GreeceI like the scenery and the frame into the image with a beautiful landscape 1 Jun 2009 5:07pm Terry H. from Azle Texas, United StatesLooks like no one has opened that gate and drove up to the old house in some time. That is some patch job on the house. I bet it was a cool house back in its day. Great shot! 1 Jun 2009 5:23pm paolo from Castelnuovo, Italycool house! it looks like a patchwork, and since those wires above also looks like a rough copy from an architect's drawing ! 1 Jun 2009 7:40pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesWhat a great house and great shot. I like the entrance frame, somehow made it look like two shots in one. Great shot. 1 Jun 2009 10:31pm Bill from Belton, United StatesSuperb deterioration Grant! Beyond classic! The patchwork is mind boggling! An amazing place and so wonderfully captured! 1 Jun 2009 11:28pm dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statesbeautiful!!! lovely textures in the old house -- the wonderfully wide front 'lawn' and the larger than necessary gate -- all wonderful and quirky elements to this excellent and intriguing shot!! 2 Jun 2009 12:56am michele from Canadawonderful house on the hill feeling here. i really like how you lined it up so the gate frames the sky rather than the house. 2 Jun 2009 2:14am Jane from United StatesWonderful! I grew up in a house similar to this. So sad that many of them are not valued anymore. This especially fascinating with the plain brown wrapper faux ranch gate. 2 Jun 2009 7:15am Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesWow your Blog Watch is awesome! I particularly like this photo. For one reason ....my last name is Weston and my husband and I are always interested in any Weston sites or homesteads. We own a large farm in Maine. Sad to see this one going to waste, but by the site of it maybe someone will eventually see the beauty in it and bring it back to life. Thanks for sharing! 3 Jun 2009 1:21am @Lambspun: thanks for the comment. weston, missouri is home to the mccormick distillery. Matt Sutton from Sydney, Australiaa strong image Grant. there seems to be a calmness over the house, while it appears to be boarded up it still has a sense of peace. I love the squareness and the parallel to the front gate structure. 3 Jun 2009 3:41am dik from McAllen, United StatesThe ambiguity with the gate lined up with the house is amazing, again a fine composition. 3 Jun 2009 5:58pm GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanThe play of lines here is just so clever and so well seen. 4 Jun 2009 7:48am Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesRemarkably similar to a place I pass on my way to Austin. 8 Jun 2009 3:00pm |
