daina from New York, United StatesAt first it appears very ordinary and then one notices how small the door is compared to the windows – almost like something Alice would have to open. And it is so very white in relation to the dark house. The whole image starts seeming surreal the more one examines it. Effective image Grant! 8 Jun 2009 1:46pm @daina: thanks diana david from columbus, ohio, United Statessomething really strange here...looks a small place and then suddenly you notice the tiny door and the whole thing flips in your head until it re-settles as a larger structure. 8 Jun 2009 1:56pm Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesThat's a strange looking door alright. Placed just right in the image. 8 Jun 2009 2:49pm Don from spokane, United StatesA fine structure in nice deep colors which you handle very considerable expertise. A strong picture! 8 Jun 2009 4:11pm paolo from Castelnuovo, Italyi feel like the lacking of two steps... 8 Jun 2009 5:26pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesNice white door and gigantic windows. Very stately. 8 Jun 2009 6:42pm Paul van der Meer from Valkenswaard, NetherlandsFantastic! you have a talented eye for details!! 8 Jun 2009 6:58pm @Paul van der Meer: thanks paul Lucca from Cologne, Germanyhaha, this is not the main entrance, isn't it?! The upper windows are very interesting too. Nice find. 8 Jun 2009 7:55pm @Lucca: no, the front door is around to the left, i think. bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI love how you have shot this, Grant, and I'm drooling over these tones :) 8 Jun 2009 9:22pm JamesC from portland, United StatesLove those white windows and door, such contrast. 9 Jun 2009 12:30am michele from Canadathe door caught my eye too - but beyond this i love how still this image feels. 9 Jun 2009 12:50am Bill from Belton, United StatesI like the overall darkness of this shot Grant! (Think I might try 1 stop under now and then.) 9 Jun 2009 12:52am Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesAt first this picture looks black and white until I looked closer and saw the green in the house. Nice shot! 9 Jun 2009 1:02am Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesMan that door is WHITE! This image has a huge tonal range. Great job. 9 Jun 2009 2:15am Mindy | f-stopMarin from United StatesAgree with above. That door looks so out of place. 9 Jun 2009 3:07am sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesI'm guessing it goes to the basement? 9 Jun 2009 4:14am @sherri: that makes sense, but your guess is as good as mine. Alex from Barcelona, SpainMe ha llamado mucho la atencion el desaturado de la casa bien contrastado, buen encuadre y compo. 9 Jun 2009 4:50am GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanI liked daina's comment (as usual). This photo seems quite severe, moreso than others, perhaps because the lines are so sharp whereas your "usual" places are sprawling about in slow decay. 9 Jun 2009 5:08am @GJC: i think the difference has to do with the place, but also the camera. i almost always use a fairly wide angle lens. this camera is new to me and i'm not using a wide lens with it. dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Stateswow -- so square!! (the house) :) love how the road and the telephone lines trim the photo diagonally on the left side of the frame -- wonderful eye motion!!! 10 Jun 2009 4:09am |
