dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statessimply faaabulous!! a wonderful and antiquated frame -- excellent composition and detail!! 18 Jun 2009 5:21am Reiner from GermanyI love this kind of old cars which are rare in Germany. Very well exposed and framed. 18 Jun 2009 11:45am david from columbus, ohio, United Stateswell, i just love old american cars so how could i fail to like this shot? 18 Jun 2009 2:35pm daina from New York, United StatesThis reminds me bit of a snapshots taken with a Brownie Hawkeye (I used to have one of those) it has that retro look that goes beyond the subject matter and counterfeit processing (for lack of a better term) that many use and feels genuine. The cut off car and sign add to that perception. 18 Jun 2009 3:13pm sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesIt looks like it has new tires and wheels on it. Very strange. I'm guessing someone is restoring it? 18 Jun 2009 4:27pm kerfendal from Paris, FranceI like the way you choose only a part with the tree seeming to grow inside the engine 18 Jun 2009 5:21pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesGreat DOF. I wish the tree behind it a bit more blurry so it does not look like it grew out of the hood, nice find nevertheless. 18 Jun 2009 6:08pm @Howard F.: thanks howard. i agree about the tree. actually, i'm having a bit of trouble getting used to managing dof with this camera. i wish also that the bit of sign were visible but more blurred. Bill from Belton, United StatesThe "super wheels and tires" somehow don't seem to fit with the rest of the automobile. Great shot Grant! Like that Super 23! 18 Jun 2009 8:15pm Paul van der Meer from Valkenswaard, NetherlandsWow Grant, this is a perfect framing, what a smashing picture! The tree on the background gives more contrast to the car, PERFECT!!! 18 Jun 2009 9:21pm daina from New York, United StatesCame back because I realized my comment might be misinterpreted – it probably wasn’t but then one never knows. I meant snapshot as a good thing – the kind of feeling only an authentic image from a time period can provide. And this felt authentic to me. It is not a picture of a “vintage” car but a scene of everyday life – there, perhaps that is more comprehensible, anyway I hope so. 18 Jun 2009 9:51pm @daina: not to worry - i liked your comment. and, the distinction you make is one that i care about. jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesVery country. Old car parked on the grass. Newish wheels - probably getting upgrades from a new, younger owner. Great shot. 18 Jun 2009 10:44pm Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesReally cool stuff Grant. I love the composition. 19 Jun 2009 2:54am michele from Canadai like what daina says about a scene of everyday life - this is what i saw you communicating with the image - if this was only about a vintage car you would have given us a much different view of the car and not given us a slice of the sign or the pole beyond the tree or those lovely 3 T structures. it's why i like your images - to me you seem to be saying 'so people this stuff is here and most of us don't pay it much attention but the details are in fact incredibly interesting and more times than not the details are where the pay dirt is'. my view on what you images are about anyway - feel free to differ. 22 Jun 2009 3:19am @michele: thanks very much michele. Jane from California, United Statesa really cool image that also spurred interesting discussion 25 Jun 2009 2:33am |
