k@ from Paris, FranceGreat graphism; love the dialogue between Black & White here* 22 Jun 2009 6:49am Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United Statesit's like emerging from the maw of a great beast... 22 Jun 2009 8:05am GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanJust a super shot. The great planes of light and shadow are so appealing. 22 Jun 2009 11:22am Marcie from United StatesLove the abstract nature..the graphic simplicity. Excellent!!! 22 Jun 2009 11:42am david from columbus, ohio, United Statesthe changing light playing on the walls makes this for me. it feels peaceful somehow. 22 Jun 2009 12:10pm dj.tigersprout from New York City, United StatesBRILLIANCE!!! :) a classy shot mate!! 22 Jun 2009 2:20pm Don from spokane, United StatesThis hallway makes a fine subject for your processing which results in a fine gradation of grays. Beautifully done. 22 Jun 2009 3:05pm daina from New York, United StatesYour images are always a treat especially the tiny details – for you are so very exact Grant and one knows that there is nothing in the frame by careless chance. Just one example in this image is the bit of undefined railing or is it something else? on the left side and how that tiny bit can redirect the eye and balance the large planes on the other side of the image and also the slight tilt has the same effect. 22 Jun 2009 3:38pm @daina: thanks daina. your comments are always appreciated. Terry H. from Azle Texas, United StatesFrom out of the dark into the light we go. Like it! 22 Jun 2009 5:40pm jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesYou've really expanded on the geometry here. Excellent! 22 Jun 2009 6:21pm ordinaryimages from Kentucky Bluegrass, United StatesDunno...I put my thumb over that bit on the left and it imho it becomes a stronger frame. bg 22 Jun 2009 8:07pm @ordinaryimages: jerry, that bit is a person - i finally put a person in a shot, and.... never again... :) Twelvebit from Victoria, United StatesPowerfully science fictional. I do think Ordinary may be right about the railing on the left though. It's absence may well add power to the aspect of the image that makes it powerful. 22 Jun 2009 10:26pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesNice abstract lines and shadow. Looks like a very modern building... 22 Jun 2009 11:21pm Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesI love the waves of the floor and how the rail (?) on the wall add to the symmetrics of the whole photo!! 23 Jun 2009 12:13am John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesLove the metallic feel and light effect in this image. Great perspective and frame. 23 Jun 2009 1:12am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThere is an eeriness here...cold and lonely but the eye cannot help but wander through to the end of the frame. 23 Jun 2009 2:48am sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesI like that the light is shining at the back of the hall. Really nice lines in the forefront. 23 Jun 2009 3:01am daina from New York, United StatesIn answer to Ordinary and twelvebit What makes something powerful to one person might make it quite predictable and not so interesting to another. Thumbs aside - one’s preference (and it is only that) does not prove one “right” When someone appreciates something how can someone else dispute it? Even if they have a golden thumb it would not make them right or even wrong for that matter. If they have a different preference that is fine – but don’t dispute someone else’s. It takes time and study to develop an aesthetic and sometimes that is the only thing that makes one opinion more respected and lends it more authority than another. Perhaps the only criteria to see who has more “authority” to judge is to exchange art degree credentials – the one with the highest degree wins :} That would be silly – as silly as trying to dispute an opinion. 23 Jun 2009 3:07am @Mike: thanks very much mike michele from Canadadidn't notice the person - was busy drinking up the light and reflected light in this - to me it feels like you stood in the perfect spot to catch how the reflected light changes with that rise in the floor. 25 Jun 2009 12:04am |
