Dulcie from Danville, United StatesNicely captured lighting and play of shadows. Steve appears to have a unusual door step. :-) 16 Jul 2009 5:44am a.h.lex from Jena, Germanythe composition of light and shadow is in a good relation, but the light could be a little bit to much. the frame and the structure of it is great! 16 Jul 2009 7:01am Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesFANTASTIC! It has a sad feel to it, seeing the paint peeling and warped woodwork. But at the same time, this is someone (Steve's) garage. He even made a step out of a barrel, and that puts a smile on my face. 16 Jul 2009 7:48am @Howard F.: thanks howard. this is a great place to visit. some of my recent shots - the old jeep and the aluminum camper - were taken behind this garage. steve's got many projects going all the time. Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United StatesSweetness. Those splashes of shadow across the brick texture just look great. 16 Jul 2009 9:43am Terry H. from Azle Texas, United StatesThat is a neat idea for a step but may be an accident waiting to happen. Steve may be a redneck. 16 Jul 2009 2:26pm @Terry H.: you could be right on both accounts... sherri from Little Rock, Arkansas, United StatesOh, wow, I love this one. That old screen door is a find and the light is incredible. 16 Jul 2009 2:57pm daina from New York, United StatesBecause of the textures and shadow the whole surface of the image seems to shimmer a bit and not sit still - the shadow reaches wonderfully across the whole frame. Great tactile sense to it all. 16 Jul 2009 3:04pm Don from spokane, United StatesI like the novel step below this doorway. He beat-up condition of the door and paint-peeled make it eye-catching. It fits the brick wall very well too. 16 Jul 2009 3:36pm david from columbus, ohio, United Statesthe step is an oil barrel? imaginative use of materials here. terrific shot too. 16 Jul 2009 7:22pm matt sutton from Sydney, Australialike a painting, the shadows are like paintbrush strokes 17 Jul 2009 12:00am Bill from Belton, United StatesHere is a garage with some real character! Looks to be 60 or more years old. The image is masterful Grant. The texture of the bricks combined with the shadows splashed across them and the broken screen door with the barrel step are fantastic! 17 Jul 2009 12:23am @Bill: it's probably even older than that bill. this is a rare case when i know something about the building (because i know steve). this place has been a gas station, a pool hall, a secret poker place, and a deli. it now houses about six cars in various stages of restoration. John Maslowski from Dallas, PA, United StatesExcellent use of light and shadows in this shot. Love the patterns and the way you framed this stunning composition, great job! 17 Jul 2009 2:26am michele from Canadai like what daina says about shimmer - this and the precarious looking step give this scene an odd stable/unstable feeling. 17 Jul 2009 3:04am dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Stateswow so moving! amazing light and those shadows that are draped across the brick wall -- awesome textures and tones!! bravo!! 17 Jul 2009 3:19am Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesVery nice. Those sweeping shadows make me think of a painter's brush strokes. The texture of the door is really nice, too. 17 Jul 2009 4:32am Didier DE ZAN from somewhere, FranceBeautiful compopsition I like so much shadows and light here 17 Jul 2009 4:57am Mindy | f-stopMarin from United StatesThat's quite a doorstep. Says so much about the place. Another great ak find. 18 Jul 2009 12:58am dik from McAllen, United StatesFantastic! I realize there is so much to learn when I see your captures. Textures and value ranges are fine. 19 Jul 2009 2:07pm Lucca from Cologne, Germany… and who is Steve? :) I especially like the textures in this. 20 Jul 2009 10:50am @Lucca: steve is the father of my girlfriend/partner (of ten years). bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaSuperb!!!
