Dulcie from Danville, United StatesI like the solitary feel of this building and especially the shadow of leaves falling across the face of it. 23 Jul 2009 5:51am NeeZee from Munich, GermanyLooks so tidied up and abandoned at the same time. very good photgraph! 23 Jul 2009 7:56am a.h.lex from Jena, Germanythe strong shining light and the shadows of a tree makes this photo dreamful. i like the minimalism of the house. 23 Jul 2009 8:02am cat from tel Aviv, IsraelThe shadow is fantastic and I love the name of the road, it's like the title of a Western or a Dylan song. 23 Jul 2009 12:08pm @cat: actually, "severance" is the name of the town. i didn't see the name of the road. i do like that name. Jane from California, United StatesCan't believe there's a town named Severance, that is so rural. I really like this shot, with the dappled light and the dentil texture on the bricks. The bench evokes so many questions. Who sits there? 23 Jul 2009 7:19pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesThis is a strong-looking house, like a fort, and a cube within a cube. Nice. 23 Jul 2009 8:36pm GJC from Kyoto (京都), JapanLike a sentinel, and interesting how, though it's a rather small building, it nevertheless seems to dominate the landscape. 23 Jul 2009 9:49pm Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesGreat light and I like the effect of the shadow on the building. Nice to return to Severence. 24 Jul 2009 2:50am Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesI love the dark of something very tall overshadowing the building and the small plant growing out of the top of it....very intriguing on what it may have been. :) 24 Jul 2009 4:01am matt sutton from Sydney, Australiato me I see an upturned chest of drawers. very nice image 24 Jul 2009 4:41am Mindy | f-stopMarin from United StatesCan't imagine sitting on that bench very long. Fun find. 24 Jul 2009 6:41am daina from New York, United StatesGreat shadows and one has to imagine the tree since there are none about that one can see. And it is difficult to make sense of the building or its purpose. I like its sparse and utilitarian look in combination with a sense uncertainty. 24 Jul 2009 10:25pm michele from Canadai wish we had buildings like this here. the shadows on the building are gorgeous as well. 26 Jul 2009 4:16am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaThe shadows are superb in this lonely feeling composition. Excellent! 26 Jul 2009 1:55pm david from columbus, ohio, United Statessuperb use of the evening light...and a great title, like the name of a steve earl song! sc 27 Jul 2009 12:45pm @david: thanks david. that fits for me. by coincidence, i suppose, i've been listening to steve earle a lot lately (even though i don't really care for his new 'townes' release). jeff (aka dogilicious) from Millerstown, PA, United StatesLooks like the "end" of town. Nothing but fields from her on out. 27 Jul 2009 2:59pm @jeff (aka dogilicious): the beginning, middle, and end of this town... Didier DE ZAN from somewhere, FranceBeautiful shot I like the shadows and the light on this wall 28 Jul 2009 4:53am |
