Annie Viguié from Bordeaux, FranceI prefer this version. The meadow seems round as the building. 24 Aug 2009 5:52am Dulcie from Danville, CA, United StatesYes, I agree the "rounded-ness" in this image is interesting and just right. 24 Aug 2009 6:52am Fritsch from Berlin, Germany"Wanted man in California / Wanted man in Buffalo / Wanted man in Kansas City / Wanted man in Ohio" 24 Aug 2009 9:48am PixeLuz from Vitória, BrazilMy favorite version, too. The greater distance to the bin helps making a contrast with the nature around. 24 Aug 2009 1:28pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI like the grain in this shot. Really nice composition and space between the foreground and your subject. 24 Aug 2009 2:06pm Don from spokane, United StatesA fine shot of this bin. I like the looming effect of the ground around the bin. 24 Aug 2009 3:21pm daina from New York, United StatesI like both shots of this with perhaps just a slight edge to this for its feeling of "curved" space. The word seems almost mystical or ceremonial. 24 Aug 2009 3:32pm yiannis krikis from thessaloniki, GreeceI like the scenery and the b&w tri-x grain 24 Aug 2009 4:03pm dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Statesthere is a slight 'grainy-ness' to this shot that i find quite fetching!! :) and i love how the light falls in a circular pattern around the subject... an excellent find and capture Grant!! 24 Aug 2009 4:18pm Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesGrant, you said this is the second of an earlier shot that I must have missed. What is this? I am curious? Never seen a little farm bin like that....interesting :) Love the shot :) 24 Aug 2009 5:40pm @Lambspun: thanks. i got the link working if you'd like to see the other shot. it's just below the info on the photo. Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesSimple structure but seems important because it is at the top of the mound with nothing near it. Perhaps food or water storage for an entire family?! Nice shot. 24 Aug 2009 6:08pm @Howard F.: thanks howard. (the mound, though, is courtesy of the 15mm lens i was using.) shallowregret from Kongsberg, Norwayi too prefer this one, the space around it is essential 24 Aug 2009 6:55pm Tammy-Cricket from somewhere out there, United StatesI really do like the feel of the grainy texture. Very nice image. 24 Aug 2009 9:46pm Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United StatesGreat grit and expansiveness, and a much better angle. Anthropomorphizing as usual, I see the bin looking out over its domain... 25 Aug 2009 2:05am Bill from Belton, United StatesI like the lens you used Grant. Imparts a great effect to the image! 25 Aug 2009 2:22am @Bill: thanks bill. it's the widest one i have - 15mm. there's hardly any need to focus the dof is so wide. rhys from Barbadosgreat image, is it some kind of silo. Are they embarrassed by it, why is tucked away in the corner? 25 Aug 2009 6:47am @rhys: i don't know much about these things. they're smaller than what i think of as a silo. i'm guessing they're used for holding grain that would be fed to animals rather than stored for selling. nobody lives in this place anymore. Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesBoth are good. I think I prefer the darker tones and composition in this one. 25 Aug 2009 10:01pm Jane from United StatesGreat choice of lens for this image; it really gives the feel of the round bin. Another midwestern farm classic. Pulls my heartstrings. 29 Aug 2009 7:40pm dik from McAllen, United StatesThe word sits on the surface denying the convincing space beautifully while the silo echoes the shape of the clearing. 1 Sep 2009 4:16am |
