rhys from United Kingdomare we looking at this from the back? I'm glad we are as we are not distracted by any messages, instead we are drawn into the design of the structure- and its great, quite Futurist and dynamic, the squished inverse parabola 'thing' on top adds an intriguing design feature. Could be something from The Jetsons. 6 Nov 2009 6:31am Fritsch from Berlin, Germany"Alone and forsaken by fate and by man / Oh, lord, if you hear me please hold to my hand / Oh, please understand" (Hank Williams) 6 Nov 2009 8:07am bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaI agree with rhys, I like the fact that there is nothing to read here with this sign. It's part of the shapes that line the road, and distinctly different in shape and size of the powerlines. A really neat shot Grant, I really enjoy your unique style and compositions. 6 Nov 2009 12:21pm a.h.lex from Jena, Germanyis this a modern sign? i think it is a yesterday sign... however, good photo! 6 Nov 2009 2:30pm Stovepipe from Ames, Iowa, United Statesit was "modern" in its time! I like this, especially the low perspective that puts the sign up with the utility poiles. 6 Nov 2009 3:39pm 6ft5 from stockholm, Swedenthis has a lonely feel to it that I really like. it would be cool to see a version with added grains, dust and scratches to see what would happen with it. It´s bold in a great way to shoot the backside! 6 Nov 2009 4:00pm JamesC from portland, United Statesa blank sign, outstanding, like the perspectives and all the telephone poles. 6 Nov 2009 6:43pm Chris Parr from Jefferson City, United StatesAnother example of what seemed modern in the past. Great find and nicely captured. There's something pleasing about the curves on that old sign. 6 Nov 2009 7:13pm Howard F. from South Pasadena, Calif., United StatesAwesome shape, they don't make it like this anymore. It's a funny scene how the sign is the only stylish object on the street. 6 Nov 2009 8:39pm dj.tigersprout from New York City, United Stateslol -- wow. nothing seems left of the era from where it arose! is this just in the middle of nowhere? a vacant lot perhaps? awesome relic! 7 Nov 2009 12:26am @dj.tigersprout: it's actually a fairly busy college town, but this is the industrial fringe on a sunday morning. Bill from Belton, United StatesLooks as if some frat boys got hold of it one night! Wonderful light and shadow Grant! 7 Nov 2009 1:57am Lambspun from Madison, Maine, United StatesWow...trying to guess what this sign said....the whole area looks abandoned! This looks like a 60's shot :) 7 Nov 2009 9:28pm matt from Sydney, Australiaexcellent Grant - it's like a huge chick of space junk that landed and and embedded itself, and it fits in with the other tall towers so well 11 Nov 2009 5:55am michele from Canadai love this one. the emptiness is so welcoming. but i also love the triangle shapes of the wires on the posts across the street and the triangle of dots on the sign back. 17 Nov 2009 3:43am |
