Kansas City, Kansas
these were the days! late 50's to 70's... hotel / motel + restaurant! awesome -- the world was so much more naive back then! a wonderful shot and a cultural documentation -- i love the diagonally cast shadows from the neon tubing! :)

That's cool Deco sign. Still works at night?

@Howard F.: i'm not sure i'd get out of my car there at night. the place has been closed for a few years.
Looks right out of psycho or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or maybe I just watch too much horror! Cool B&W shot!

@Hamid.R: thanks hamid
nice composition, it gives the feel of a place in the middle of nowhere on the side of a hot, dusty road

@danthro: thanks danthro. i agree about the feel of the setting, but it's actually on a fairly busy road in a city.
I really like these old signs, and it seems these days they are few and far between, especially where I am from. Great shot here, love the nostalgia.

@bluechameleon: here too. this place is empty and for sale. my guess is that if anyone ever buys, it'll be torn down.
Beautiful forms and shadows...
14 Jul 2008 7:25am
Do you get to rant free, or is that part of the room charge?
14 Jul 2008 9:38pm
@Twelvebit: no, ranting is still free around here, and quite common. to stay the night though, you'll have to buy the whole damn place - it's closed and for sale.
